An evening with new discoveries and old friends
We warned you that the first ever Find The Perfect Match will be a special one, guided by senses, culinary refinement and beautiful people? Well, it came out exactly what we wanted, a relaxing socialization and "quality time" in which our senses became explorers of new tastes and sensations. Ladies, gentlemen, we ate and tasted the wines consciously.
We designed this type of event around emotions ... we wondered who would be curious and courageous enough to reserve a seat at a dinner without having any information in advance, about the menu or the wines? It turned out that our fears were not at all grounded.
Why Wok'n Roll? Because they have changed the location and the newly created space on Dorobanti Street is exactly what we wanted: an intimate, elegant setting with a small number of places, where our guests will feel comfortable and allow for discussions to circulate lightly to each other.
We chose four dishes to which we paired eight wines. To each of the dishes were attributed two wines, and although the food was visible in the plates, the wines were served in "blind". In order to help our guests, we devised evaluation sheets for food and wine which we provided to the tasters. Of course, these charts were meant to guide them in finding the perfect combination. Dinner started with a game of senses, but we'll tell more about it when you attend the next event. Believe us, you will want to participate.
The dinner Find The Perfect Match meant:
Garlic shrimps served with cucumbers, carrots, baked cherry tomatoes, chives and roasted bread to which we associate Riesling de Rhin from Villa Vinea and Vinca Sophia Chardonnay Carastelec Wine Cellar. The final vote for pairing was equal between the two wines.
Three times pasta: Aglio Olio, Dried tomatoes and seeds, Pasta with pesto. We chose Corcova Sauvignon Blanc and Vertigo Moşia Galicea Mare for this dish. Each type of pasta was perfectly suited to one of the wines.
The third surprise dish was a beef steak with chimney-bears, asparagus with bearnaise sauce, served next to roasted lamb, wrapped in bacon. The paired wines were Corcova Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2013 and Fetească neagra Moşia Galicea Mare.
Dessert of the evening: green coconut pancakes and brown sugar, served next to cantata with mango and caramelized almonds. The pairing was made with special dessert wines: Villa Vinea Contessa and Corcova Desert.
At the end of the evening we chose the most successful pairing: the votes of the majority went to the third, the asparagus and polenta steak associated with the Corcova Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2013.
And because the purpose of this culinary experience is also to offer you an unprecedented dinner version of Do It Yourself @ home, here's the recipe:
Antricot black angus matured for 3 weeks. Twelve hours prior to preparation, it was kept in olive oil with soy sauce, fried medium and served with homemade sauce.
Asparagus fried briefly in wok, in olive oil and seasoned with salt and pepper, finally served with bearnaise sauce.
Polenta was boiled in chicken soup, then it was stretched and cut. After being cooled, it was roasted to make it crisp, then rolled into a bacon and fried lightly.
Next to this great flavor and texture, you can trust Corcova Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2013.
We set, right? We'll see you at the next edition in a new location. Everything will remain a surprise until the right moment.
The event is under the auspices of WineUp in the City.
